Happy Birthday for my husband

Mr. Adetia (ha, he would really bonk me for saying that) turned 34 yesterday, a big day!  We had already celebrated at The Cheesecake Cafe in Lethbridge this weekend, but we had a nice time at home yesterday celebrating his birthday once he got home from work.  I got him this lovely Breville K Cup coffee maker and some family members got him some go-withs, coffee, travel mug etc.  Unlike me, he does not have a love of all things girly and pink, so I tried a bit harder to use boy colors in this one...

I began by stamping the MFT Don't Open Until image on Copic Blending paper, then colored with a variety of Copics (didn't make a list, oops!) and cut with my new Nesties - first with classic squares large (largest size), then a coordinating scalloped square large (again largest size), and adhered them together.  I used yellow glitter glue to shine up the yellow stripes in the package and cotton candy Stickles on her hair barrette and buttons.  I covered  the orange bow with clear Glossy Accents so it has a really nice shine on it, which I couldn't get a decent photo of to save my soul.  Next I embossed DP with the Happy Birthday folder, and inked it with Broken China Distress Ink.  This was adhered to a panel of DP inked with Rusty Hinge.  I took 2 strips of lace and attached these to a strip of coordinating DP, added a button (put on with glitter glue so it shines through the holes), and popped that up with dimensional squares.  Then, the image panel was added to the strip on more foam squares so it really stands out.   Lastly, I added some colored bling above and below the embossed strips.

You can see how rubbing the distress ink over the embossing really makes the Happy Birthday pattern start to pop.  Unfortunately, most of it is hidden under the image!  I also made him an incredibly yummy Chocolate Cake with the most amazing frosting ever, and I would have taken a picture of that too but apparently he ate most of the rest for breakfast my plan to take that photo this morning has been derailed!
